Introduction to Blogging!

Blogging! It can be a really great interactive tool that allows students to collaborate 24/7, and reflect upon assignments, learning experiences, you name it!!

But what is it? I know that not everyone is familiar with this "online experience", so let me give you a quick overview! (If you are already familiar with blogs, go ahead and scroll down to the next part!)

" blog (a blend of the term web log)[1] is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Blogcan also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other via widgets on the blogs and it is this interactivity that distinguishes them from other static websites.[2]
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (Art blog), photographs (photoblog), videos (video blogging), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Microblogging is another type of blogging, featuring very short posts." - Wikipedia

Now that we are all on the same page, let's take a look at how to make your own blog!
Start by opening any of your Google apps, and clicking on the MORE button. From there, you will want to click on EVEN MORE.

Step 2:   From here, you will want to click on the Blogger Icon.
**If you can't find the icon, please make sure that your website says www.google.ca, and not .com.**

Step 3:  Make sure to fill in a DISPLAY name. This name will be used as the signature for all of your Blog posts or comments. From there, make sure to agree with the Terms & Services, and then click CONTINUE.

You now have a Blogger account set-up! You are now able to comment on other Blogs or create your own!

To create your own blog and to share it with others... stay tuned! It will be coming soon!

Welcome to the Cloud!!

So we are now 4 months into our Portal Project here at Kenilworth, and of course, everyday there is something new out there!
The good news, is that I am going to keep on working to make all the information I receive available to everyone. And on top of that, I will also work at putting together "How-to's" to walk you through the different apps and functions!

Feel free to post your comments, ask your questions, etc! Just remember, in order to post, you must be logged into the Portal (StaffZone).
